  1. If you’d like a tool for managing your time and projects, check out GTDagenda.com, an application inspired by David Allen’s GTD. You can use it to manage and prioritize your goals, projects and tasks, set next actions and contexts, use checklists, schedules and a calendar. A mobile version is available too.

  2. It’s a simple graph but it’s very powerful. Thank you so much for sharing. It’s above my monitor now.

  3. Seems with search engine optimization you will spend most of your time in the “No Pain, No Gain” category. What I mean is, we always obtain the results that we want (I guess we always want better now that I think of it), but it takes a great deal of time and effort to obtain those results. Don’t you find it the same?

  4. That’s a nice chart graphing the possible relationship between effort and results. Optimally the 80/20 space is where we wanna be at, right? So far I keep finding myself in either no pain, no gain, or the self-sabotage space.

Well, at least it feels like self-sabotage sometimes, but then you realize that it takes a few months to show results in this type of business.

  5. Fine example of a picture (in your case illustation) speaking 1000 words :) You have summed up what many long essays spend doing lol! Very concise :)

  6. Very simple yet concise chart. It would have been nice if you had some stats in addition. I tend to believe that there are damn lot of “low efforts – poor results” people. And they usually are the ones who complain the most.

  7. Well, I find you table smart but a bit too general. I believe there are many grey speces, not only black and white, where many people actually find themselves.

Anyway, I feel and I hope to be in the line between the 80/20 principle and the no pain no gain sections.

Nice blog anyway, keep it up!

  8. Lovely. Indeed I increased my productivity a lot since I left the Self Sabotage stage, where I admit I used to live for years.

  9. lol! I think I waste my time on social bookmarking but I should spend it on writing good content. Right?

  10. Everyone should review a couple of times a day which block they fall into. The best would be to take a look at each task before you start it to determine if you should start it or skip it.

  11. Good graph. Simple and feel that with SEO I wil b spending more time in the “no pain no gain” cateory. Checked out GTDagenda.com as suggested above by Dan. Very Good for helping prioritize.

  13. Sometimes a feel people are busy but never take the time to look inward at them self. If you organize your time and prioritize your tasks then you can achieve more with your day. The graph is a great tool to achieving this…

  14. I’m definitely in the mediocrity part right now. Need to move around in that block a little bit! Great graph to follow.

  15. While I can’t directly measure the amount of effort put in, basically all I know is that I have to keep on working. Well, at least I stand a chance rather than waiting for a windfall.

  16. Great little diagram. It inspired me to put more effort into my work, I think I’m in the mediocrity square.

  17. I was asked to develop something on “how to evaluate an action plan” and vola! almost the same matrix you conjured up! Perhaps another application here.
Under Lo-Poor – I added commitment, motivation and lazy
Under Hi-Hi I added Plan the Work, Work the Plan, which then leads to how to evaluate an action plan. Nothing new, just the classics! :)

  19. Really summed up what I was trying to communicate to my team members for long time. I will put this chart on everyone’s desktop to look at it every day

  20. The graph is an excellent tool to help organise your time and priorities. I the one thing people can do to make their day more effective is to write tasks down. If you write task down and priorities them you stand a good chance of clearing them off your desk.
