“Blue Ocean Strategy” Book Summary

Stuart Gordon from Promotional Product Company Giant Promotions has just posted this 9-page PDF summary of killer marketing strategy book Blue Ocean Strategy on his blog.
Blue Ocean Strategy is all about creating UNCONTESTED market space in which you dominate the competition because there IS no competition! It is just as viable (and profitable) on the web as it is offline, and I believe it will become more so.
Right now, many companies (especially small businesses) are “surviving” on the web because of moderate traffic costs (particularly PPC) and competitors who, by and large, don’t really know what they’re doing.
As the competition heats up, “me-too” companies will be eaten alive, leaving only those with a well-executed internet strategy and tight conversion funnel will really prosper.
Thanks for the summary Stuart!

Blue Ocean Strategy is about owning a space in the market. It talks about how to effectively create this space through understanding the dimensionization of key industry and competitive factors.
I recommend reading “Monopoly Rules” by Miland Lele to further understand how to own a given marketspace, and create a legal monopoly. This book is reviewed on http://www.mikebolden.com. He talks about time and space with regard to creating monopolies.

@Michael - thanks I will check out “Monopoly Rules”. Understanding positioning is the equivalent of marketing WMDs, but it is not easy to do. Any reliable, replicable system that assists in doing this has my vote.

Will - I think you will like “Monopoly Rules”. It is a quick read for a book which explains complex concepts, it also makes them relately simple to digest. Although you are obviously advanced in your marketing thoughts, I know it would benefit you. I have actually spend two hours in a room at The Univ. of Chicago Biz School talking with the author one-on-one.
