Jay Abraham Bootcamp a Massive Success

August 23, 2006 on 6:36 pm | In Internet Marketing | No Comments

Welcome back! Good to see you. If you haven't seen it, here's the archive of my best writing. Thanks for visiting!

I recently attended the Jay Abraham Business-building Bootcamp in Sydney with 3 of my team and it was A-W-E-S-O-M-E.

At $3K+ per ticket, it is not “cheap”, but I estimate that we gained 100 times the price of admission in value.

So I want to say a few things about the value of team training that had previously eluded me. Small business owners frequently look at training as a cost, when the right kind of training can pay off massively.

The value of being on the same page

When the opportunity arose to send several members of my team to this event, I must admit that I hesitated initially. Couldn’t I just go myself, then communicate all the great marketing ideas to my team for us to implement together?

That did seem like a viable option, but in the end I decided to take a punt and see how it turned out. I’ve already seen results in a number of ways…

Understanding through experiencing

Because we went together, we understand the material first-hand – much more effective than me providing a 2nd-hand retelling to the others.

Motivation and empowerment

The nature of an event like this is that ideas and concepts come from all angles – not only from the presenter but also from other delegates as well. In this way, all 4 or us have come up with great ideas that we’ve been able to pool together. The result is that everybody feels a much more significant role in the development of strategies that can benefit our business as a whole.

Networking

While I certainly wouldn’t consider myself a “Power Networker”-type, events like this tend to attract the same type of people, so it’s relatively easy to forge new business relationships.

We’ve already doing business with people we met at the event, and in fact, I would go again next year even if I learnt nothing new – the networking alone is worth it.

Training is great, as long as you ACT

Training events can be great, but unless you put what you learn into action, it’s all money down the drain. I know that I’ve fallen into this trap myself on a number of occasions.

This time is different. We’ve already put a number of ideas into action, including…

* Introducing 3 additional revenue streams that were previously cost centres
* Strengthening our client communication strategy
* Setting up 3 partnerships with synergistic companies

And there’s still much to do. I’ll write more on specific examples in upcoming posts…….
